The foundations of SITEM, as it prepares for its 25th edition, are based on the analysis and understanding of the global museum: its structure, its functioning, its particularities, its evolutions.
Illustrated by its exhibitors, SITEM presented and analysed all the major technological phases of museums. Today, digital technology is everywhere, marketing is in common use, and ticketing is indispensable. A growing part of their activity is joining the corporate economy. The creation and development of their own resources is becoming increasingly important. New objectives and new players are emerging. Transversality is essential.
SITEM is, in fact, sensitive to the roles and permanent interactions that museums establish with their territory. Having become attractive gathering places, they are actors of local sociability, sometimes pushed quite far, to the point of physical and mental health.
SITEM has thus become, perhaps, the only space where public and private professionals from the fields of culture, cities, economy, territories and tourism meet, understand each other and collaborate. This will be very useful for the times to come.
