“More than an exhibition, it was an expedition… ˝
Hélène Lafont-Couturier, Director of the Musée des Confluences, Lyon
ANTARCTICA, A SUCCESSFUL INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION
After March of the Penguins, director Luc Jacquet, accompanied by photographers Vincent Munier and Laurent Ballesta, led a unique expedition. A meeting between the expedition teams and the Musée des Confluences in Lyon resulted in a sensitive new exhibition, a true ode to polar biodiversity and the need to protect it.
ANTARCTICA takes you on a journey to the Antarctic, a land only accessible to international science teams. For the first time, an exhibition offers the chance to immerse yourself in the beauty of this icy oasis: visitors plunge into the depths of the Antarctic Ocean and venture out across the ice pack to discover the extraordinary biodiversity of the white continent.
A GUARANTEED CHANGE OF SCENERY
The exhibition mixes video images, photos, soundscapes and decorative elements to take the visitor on a field expedition. During his wanderings, the visitor can watch the preparation of dives in the Southern Ocean, stay on the lookout with the photographer to observe birds or Weddell seals, and rub shoulders with emperors on the ice floe.
ALREADY MORE THAN 800,000 VISITORS!
LYON – BREMEN – BRUSSELS, in every location it sets up, the immersive exhibition ANTARCTICA, attracts the public and breaks attendance records.
A GREAT POTENTIAL FOR GLOBAL MOBILITY Mainly made from timeless, universal pictures that don’t require a lot of equipment, the exhibition is easy to deploy around the world. It can be adapted in whole or in part, depending on the available exhibition space or budget constraints. Since its launch, Antarctica has continued to travel internationally: in Bremen and Brussels.
