Leonardo da Vinci has extraordinary historical significance. During his life, Da Vinci was a pioneer ahead of his time. He explored an almost unfathomable range of topics, observing, documenting, theorising, and conceptualising ideas that were unheard of in his day.
Leonardo left behind very few tangible examples of his ideas. The few works still in existence very rarely travel and are either locked away or on permanent display in a small number of esteemed museums around the world.
