Description

Play is a constant activity in life. In Homo ludens / Game worlds, an essential work on the study of play, Dutch anthropologist Johan Huizinga reminds us that the dimension of play is central to understanding the processes of world building and socialization, seeing as it accompanies us from the moment we first begin to learn.

Video games are the most contemporary representation of this dimension, while also being a type of multifaceted, complex and popular product. This exhibition explores the multiple areas of life in which video games have intervened, along with those it has driven forward, establishing links with disciplines and fields of knowledge that may seem quite distant.

Therefore, this exhibition offers a new perspective on the concept of the player, and reveals a gamified world in which life and play converge more and more each day, and in which all of us who inhabit it are, in one way or another, players.

The art work and games that make up this exhibition transcend the scope of the act of playing and expose the phenomenon as an industry, a cultural medium and a creative approach through which it is possible to understand our present.
