Curated for the Design Museum by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby
Curated by award-winning British designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, ‘In the Making’ captures 24 objects mid-manufacture, revealing the unexpected beauty of standard manufacturing processes.
Varying from the £2 coin to a tennis ball, a surprising range of objects have been chosen to be exhibited in an unfinished state, celebrating the art of making and revealing the unexpected quality that everyday objects have before assuming their final, recognisable form.
The exhibition offers a glimpse of the designers’ ongoing dialogue with manufacturing that is so distinctive to their practice, featuring some of their own designs such as the award-winning London 2012 Olympic Torch. There is also an option for tour venues to work with the duo to curate locally manufactured exhibits for their venue.
