Throughout a long and prodigious history, spanning many ancient dynasties, the remarkable inventions and technological achievements of the Chinese civilization have not only shaped, but continue to influence the world today, as they did at their inception. Chinese scientific inventions and innovation encompass a wide spectrum of the sciences – the compass, gunpowder, paper, moveable type, the seismograph, the plowshare, the wheelbarrow and the stern rudder are but some of the technological achievements of ancient China.
We in the West are mostly taught of the accomplishments of the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans while the history of the vast geographical expression known as China remains obscure. For inquiring minds, young and old, this dynamic and highly-educative exhibition, featuring 90+ authentic and accurate models, replicas and illustrations of the most important scientific inventions dating from the 3rd century BCE to the 15th century, offers a unique opportunity to discover and learn about many of the milestones in science and technology that continue to shape our lives.
This exhibition available throughout 2020, co-produced by CP and Pan Art , features over 90 models and replicas of the most significant ancient Chinese scientific inventions, dating from the 3rd century BC to the 15th century. These exhibits come from the China Science and Technology Museum in Beijing.
