Project Holocene: The exhibit features large illuminated paintings of endangered animals and has been on display at zoos and museums around the world. The project is focused on bringing attention to wild animal survival. Since 1970 there has been an almost 70% average decline of wildlife. Project Holocene aims to bring attention and empathy to this current urgent conservation crisis.
Project Holocene includes an exhibit of 13 endangered aquatic species, a butterfly exhibit and a general exhibit that highlights many different species that are facing extinction. Venues are able to select from the collection of completed works. The selected images are printed at custom sizes and then painted on back lit fabric and can be displayed both indoors or outdoors.
They can be seen day or night, but are very visually captivating in a darkened space or night.
The paintings can be illuminated with different color lighting or lighting that moves/changes from color to color.
The works are rented for 6 month exhibitions, each exhibit is unique and customized based on paintings selected and available space. The exhibit is very simple to install, and can be mounted on any interior/exterior wall.
The mission of the project is to share a message of conservation. The paintings show the beauty and fragility of the species represented and help build awareness around the importance of protecting biodiversity.
