The exhibition is a curated selection of 70 artworks (oil paintings, watercolours, gouache and etchings) and an audiovisual from 7 lenders (museums and private collectors from Spain).
Miró’s readings of mystical texts had a decisive influence on the progressive stripping of forms and the gradual conquest of emptiness in order to depict paths of spiritual ascent through symbolic and metaphorical resources. Contemplation and ascetic stripping are part of his creative process.
Miró was also influenced by philosophical and hermeneutic texts and all the magical and esoteric sources of worship among the artistic and intellectual circles in which he was involved. Miró was influenced by poetic, magical-mystical and artistic influences, especially by André Masson, with whom Miró shared a studio from 1922 to 1923, and from whom he received plastic influences as well as access to esoteric and alchemical knowledge. We are talking about his interest in expressing the invisible through pictorial resources.
