In recent years, 3D printing has revolutionized our lives, becoming increasingly important in health care, engineering, architecture, and art. The world of 3D printing has transformed the way all sorts of objects are designed, prototyped, and produced.
One of the key features of 3D printing is the ability to customize what is manufactured: the object created no longer has to be the same for everyone, and this opens up a whole world of possibilities to designers, artists, and anyone who wants to give their creative imagination a free rein.
3D printing is becoming more and more accessible and capable of producing at scales and sizes that a few years ago were unthinkable. Now, something as tiny as tissue can be printed based on cells; and there are already plans for the future construction of the first lunar shelter. Are there any limits to 3D printing?
Print3D is an exhibition created by Fundació “la Caixa” and toured by the American Museum of Natural History, New York (amnh.org).
