Manon Delaury, CEO of Teo, unveils the incentives and objectives behind the Teo project and talks about the approach adopted for the new travelling exhibitions platform.

A comprehensive living resource for sharing, learning and connecting

The travelling exhibitions world has undergone exponential growth in the past decade, with more and more organisations getting involved in international touring and an ever-growing number of exhibitions being proposed. The past few years have seen the rise of a variety of touring cultures and practices internationally.

The idea for Teo came to life in that dynamic context, through our extensive experience of developing partnerships for travelling exhibitions worldwide. Continuous dialogue and a comprehensive survey with professionals involved in the international touring of exhibitions brought to light the need for more efficient access to industry-specific information and to more relevant connections. Teo aims to respond to this growing need as the new one-stop resource to support the international touring community.

Collaborative design, community content and information transparency are at the heart of its model.

Fostering new international collaborations

Teo was conceived primarily to foster new collaborations in the world of travelling exhibits. Its editorial approach, the structure of its content and its open format have been designed to help cultural venues across the globe find relevant exhibitions and partners, whilst bringing new visibility to productions and solutions proposed by exhibition producers and specialist providers. Its directory of exhibitions, which will evolve as the library grows, allows users to quickly filter, search and review its content. The community directory makes it possible to find relevant partners, bringing together producers, specialist providers and host venues.

Sharing best practices and original touring stories

Teo also aims to contribute to the sharing of knowledge and best practices within the community. For this purpose, the journal will provide a curated window onto the world of travelling exhibitions with industry updates, in-depth touring content and shared insights from leading international touring specialists. It will address best practices, trends, opportunities and challenges related to touring activities, bringing together perspectives that we believe could help tackle some of the complexities and challenges inherent to touring, whilst stirring creativity. Combined with the touring calendar, which highlights the events that mark the year in the industry, it provides members with relevant information throughout the year.

Teo is an inclusive initiative that offers museums, science centres, galleries, libraries, cultural venues and partner specialists a comprehensive entry point into the world of touring.

With and for the community

The new platform has been developed in close dialogue with touring stakeholders from around the world. It has been designed to evolve and grow in collaboration with its members whilst adapting to the needs of professionals and organisations involved in the travelling of exhibitions. Collaborative design, community content and information transparency are at the heart of its model.

Teo is an inclusive initiative that offers museums, science centres, galleries, libraries, cultural venues and partner specialists a comprehensive entry point into the world of touring. It is committed to becoming a useful and innovative new resource in the ecosystem of international touring and to contributing as much as possible to improving international touring experiences and cultivating compelling and meaningful international touring cultures and practices
