We’re Europe’s largest multi-arts venue presenting a diverse range of art, music, theatre, dance, film, and creative learning events.

Barbican International Enterprises curate and develop exhibitions at the forefront of digital technology and innovation. Our curatorial approach explores the rapidly changing world we inhabit and our co-evolution with technology. We create unique collaborations across art, science, technology, and popular culture, offering a fresh, global perspective on urgent issues. We produce holistic environments in which contemporary art, immersive experiences, historical artefacts, design, videogaming, and music provide an unparalleled creative exploration of essential narratives. Our exhibitions differ from a traditional museum or art gallery experience. They occupy a physical space, but with predominantly digital and interactive works.

We’re currently looking for a technician to provide technical support to the Game On exhibition. Game On is the longest running touring exhibition on videogames, exhibiting over 100 playable games over the 50-year history of videogames. The exhibition has welcomed over 3.9 million visitors worldwide in 11 countries over 3 continents.

We’re looking for an Exhibition Technical Advisor who has extensive experience working on AV installations and large-scale multi-media projects in public institutions and museum environments. The Exhibition Technical Consultant will work alongside the Barbican International Enterprises team and partner institutions to ensure the smooth running of this touring exhibition. You’ll be responsible for holding a general overview of the exhibition, maintenance, repairs, and upgrade.

Please note this role involves working outside of the UK for periods of 3-6 months with the Barbican providing accommodation and travel while abroad.

Your first international work would be in the Netherlands (Groningen) at the beginning of 2022 (exact dates TBC). Vaccinated candidates will not be required to quarantine.

Please be available to start as soon as possible.

Closing date

09/01/2022

Notes

Initial posting in the Netherlands from the beginning of 2022 to Mid-June 2022 (exact dates to be negotiated).

To apply please email bie.office@barbican.org.uk with your CV, cover letter and the Equal Opportunities form which can be downloaded from this page.

We welcome applications from the widest possible range of people and is particularly keen to encourage interest from Black, Asian & minority ethnic candidates, trans and non-binary candidates who are currently under-represented within the BIE team. We are also a member of Disability Confident scheme, and you'll have an opportunity to indicate if you would like to be considered through this scheme in the application process.
