Ecsite, the European network for science engagement organisations, invites its members to donate exhibitions or exhibits to Ukrainian science centres and museums, in support of science engagement during the war.
This initiative is developed by Ecsite in the context of its new partnership with the Simons Foundation, building on the efforts already made by the Ecsite community to support science engagement in Ukraine (such as the creation of this shared resource). This collaboration will span the year of 2024 and will include the donation of exhibitions to Ukrainian science centres, the training of 15 science engagement professionals from Ukraine at the 2024 Ecsite Conference and a one-week training for 5 science engagement professionals from Ukraine at Copernicus Science Centre.
The project will be conducted in collaboration with Ecsite member Junior Academy of Sciences Ukraine (JASU) who will be selecting the exhibitions. Ecsite is gathering proposals and will be covering the costs, organising transport and the translation of exhibitions for the benefit of Ukrainian science engagement organisations.
Ecsite thanks all members who have graciously donated exhibitions and exhibits to Ukraine, including Experimentarium in Denmark whose Winter Sports exhibition is pictured in the article, read more about this here. In addition, a complete list of Ecsite members who have donated to Ukraine can be found here.
