We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an Exhibitions Technician to join the team based at our Chambers Street site. You will play a key role supporting the Exhibitions and Design teams in the preparation, production, installation and deinstallation of special exhibitions and permanent displays. You will also undertake the routine maintenance and repair of special exhibition and permanent display elements ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the museum’s galleries and exhibition spaces.
To ensure exhibitions and displays across all National Museum sites are maintained and in good working order, and to provide technical support for the exhibitions and displays programmes.
Responsibilities:
As Exhibition Technician with National Museums Scotland, you will:
- You will get the opportunity to work creatively with other project teams and have a flexible and communicative approach with a wide range of colleagues, developing solutions in a fast-paced environment
- Undertake routine maintenance and repair of special exhibition and permanent display elements including planned preventative maintenance and on the spot fixes
- Assist the Exhibitions and Design teams in the preparation, production, installation and deinstallation of special exhibitions and permanent displays.
- Assist the Exhibitions and Design teams in the preparation, production, installation and deinstallation of special exhibitions and permanent displays.
- Prepare gallery spaces prior to installation: and build exhibition and display showcases when required
- Communicate and liaise with Exhibitions and Design team members and other staff throughout National Museums Scotland, providing technical advice and support.
