The Kunstpalast is the art museum of the city of Düsseldorf. As a lively house of art, it offers a sense of identification to all Düsseldorf citizens and seeks to inspire and encourage participation.
The Kunstpalast is located in the Ehrenhof, a unique art déco ensemble of the 1920s, which was extended by renowned Cologne architect Oswald Mathias Ungers. The building encompasses 10.000 m² of exhibition and event spaces. It also includes the Robert Schumann Hall, an outstanding concert hall holding 800 seats, as well as a shop, café and library.
With our exhibition programme we respond to contemporary topical issues and provide impetus for new perspectives. As we are guided by a broad definition of art extending beyond the conventional canon, our programme presents a combination of art and design, photography and fashion.
We show about seven exhibitions a year that always have a connection to either our broad collection or Düsseldorf as an international centre of art. Our three exhibition halls have different dimensions (from 600 m² to 760 m²) with a maximum height of 12 meters. The architecture can be adapted to the individual needs of every exhibition.
