Description
In just 24 hours, Pompeii and neighboring Herculaneum were buried by a catastrophic volcanic eruption in 79 A.D. The site was lost for 1500 years and remained mostly untouched until 1748.
This exhibition plunges the visitor into the heart of the drama and the ruins of the ancient city. Spectacular immersive moments allow the visitor to experience the destruction of the city and to identify with the inhabitants of that time, immobilised by the volcano’s ashes.
The Immortal City is based on the results of the most advanced scientific research and reveals impressive and truly extraordinary stories, making each visit a tailored experience. The exhibition is a journey through space and time to discover the extraordinary level of naturalistic, scientific and technical knowledge achieved in Pompeii and the Roman world on the eve of the volcanic eruption of A.D. 79.
