Arcade Cabinets as Playable Art

Arca Arcade creates custom arcade cabinets that function as playable artworks, combining contemporary art with the culture and mechanics of classic video games. Designed and built in Aotearoa New Zealand by artist and designer Preston McNeil, the cabinets transform the familiar arcade machine into an interactive platform for storytelling, collaboration and exhibition.

Description

Arca Arcade produces custom interactive kiosks designed for gallery and public environments. Drawing on the visual language of classic arcade machines, these works combine sculptural cabinet design, bespoke artwork, and playable digital media to create durable, self-contained interactive installations. Each kiosk functions as both a physical object and a platform for engagement, inviting audiences to interact through simple joystick and button controls. Developed for museums, galleries, festivals, and public spaces, Arca Arcade kiosks are designed to be robust, accessible, and visually distinctive, offering institutions a compelling way to present interactive storytelling, artistic content, and participatory experiences.
