Not only Muses

In recent years, increasing attention has been paid to women artists long overlooked in the history of art. Many of them — particularly those associated with the early twentieth-century avant-garde — achieved significant recognition in their own time, receiving prizes, exhibiting internationally, and earning the respect of critics and fellow artists alike.

Not Only Muses reconsiders these histories, looking again at artists whose contributions have too often remained in the shadows and offering a broader understanding of modern art.
