OceanXperience is an immersive, one-of-a-kind, adventure-driven touring exhibition designed to raise awareness for the world’s oceans. Featuring footage captured during OceanX’s groundbreaking deep-sea research missions, the exhibition uses innovative storytelling to take visitors on a journey to explore the unknown, outer limits of our oceans and experience what it’s like to conduct mission-critical research onboard OceanX’s ship, OceanXplorer.
OceanXperience puts visitors in the driver’s seat of their own personalized adventure. When they climb aboard an interactive replica of OceanXplorer, the most advanced research and filmmaking vessel in the world, visitors choose a mission tailored to their interests.
As visitors explore the vessel and enjoy hands-on STEM-based research tasks, their journey is tracked and enhanced with RFID technology. The adventure culminates in an interactive HoloLab experience and powerful cinematic scenes in the 360-degree theater.
The exhibition also features a replica of OceanXplorer’s groundbreaking HoloLab. The Hololab includes the same technology utilized onboard the vessel for scientific research missions. This technology allows visitors to visually and dynamically understand scientific data. 3D holograms, that visitors can manipulate, are displayed above the HoloTable and viewed with the Microsoft HoloLens 2. Visitors can also watch others use this amazing tech with N-Cam live feeds.
OceanXperience is based on an upcoming National Geographic documentary series which follows a team of pioneering filmmakers, explorers and world-leading scientists as they take on a variety of high-stakes adventures in ocean discovery, co-produced by OceanX and BBC Studio’s Natural History Unit, and executive produced by James Cameron.
