Exhibition introduction:

The exhibition is divided into five sections: “Imaginations by the Sea,” “ Dreams of Deep Sea,” ” Wonderland of darkness,” “ Mysteries on the Seafloor,” and “ To explore the infinite.” The design adopts a problem-driven approach, using mythology as an entry point, technology as the path of exploration, and scientific research findings as the focal point. “Imaginations by the Sea” tells the story of human curiosity about the ocean; “ Dreams of Deep Sea” showcases how technological advancements have fueled new leaps in scientific discoveries; ” Wonderland of darkness” offers a multi-sensory, immersive experience of the deep sea, featuring entirely animal-formed “coral forests” and hydrothermal vent and cold seep ecosystems powered by chemical energy; “ Mysteries on the Seafloor” displays specimens of the latest deep-sea research findings, guiding visitors to understand coral forests and hydrothermal vent and cold seep organisms from a researcher’s perspective; “ To explore the infinite” sparks visitors’ desire for deep-sea exploration through a series of intriguing questions.

There is dark matter and dark energy in the universe, and there is a ‘dark world’ on Earth. In the deep ocean, where there is no sunlight, there is perpetual darkness.

The deep ocean accounts for 85% of the total volume of the oceans and has been very poorly understood.

Thanks to the development of science and technology, scientists are venturing into the deep sea. What have they seen? What have they found?

“Deep Sea” may surprise you and change your perception.

Imaginations by the sea

When the ancients could not go deep into the sea, they used myths and legends to describe the mysterious ocean in their eyes.

Based on their knowledge of the sea and the familiar land, the ancients created a romantic ocean world.

Dreams of Deep Sea

With the progress of science and technology, people dive, dive, continue to dive, chasing the dream of the deep sea, never stop.

Deep sea diving, China’s deep submersible starts amazing moment.

Wonderland of darkness

“flowers, birds, fish and insects”… What are they?

Enter the world’s largest deep-sea coral forest restoration site and experience the “dark wonderland” of the deep sea that scientists have discovered.

Mysteries on the Seafloor

“Cold water coral”, “deep sea hydrothermal water”, “deep sea cold spring” exist at the bottom of the sea… Everyone decodes them together. Here, dozens of precious deep-sea specimens are presented to the public for the first time.

To explore the infinite

Oceans cover about 71 per cent of the Earth’s surface, but humanity has only scratched the surface. There is still a long way to go to explore the ocean.

From questions to answers, a hundred thousand whys and scientists answer your questions.
