Marshmallow Laser Feast (MLF) is a London based creative studio. Their expertise has earned them a reputation for bold, ambitious and industry-defining works that push boundaries, redefine expectations and excite audiences worldwide. Their work is expansive, spanning kinetic sculpture, film, live performance and virtual reality.
They are looking for experienced freelance technicians to support their team on an adhoc basis to help develop and deliver a variety of projects. You will have a desire to work at the bleeding edge of immersive storytelling. They are looking for someone who enjoys a multi-discipline approach, blending production techniques from art, science, theatre, visitor experiences, technology and more.
You will work as part of the Technical team brought into assist on specific projects in development or at delivery stage. Working with the Technical Producer you will assist with the development and implementation of MLF’s latest projects and Touring works.
You will be comfortable working in varying team sizes, sometimes running solo on small installs. They would expect you to have a solid understanding of various AV hardware and software systems. The role will require both national and international travel for onsite installs. You would also be required while on installs to be able to take venue staff through the experience and train them on its operation where clear communication skills are essential. This is also required for any technical troubleshooting that the staff may have to do when any MLF staff are not present.
Setting up their Touring works will require a keen eye for detail and attention to presentation of their work. Installs on sites should be clean and professional where the technology of the show is not the most obvious part.
Working along with the Technical Producer you will make sure that all touring equipment is tested and prepared for shipping and delivery, as well as making sure it is correctly packed for its return once a show is complete if we aren’t present for the dismantle.
Notes
- This is a freelance role with contract length varying from two weeks to several months.
- The role will require both national & international travel and may often be for extended periods of time.
