The platform’s annual online event dedicated to international travelling exhibitions welcomed professionals involved in hosting and touring cultural exhibitions, from museums, galleries, cultural centres and science centres to archives, libraries, exhibition venues and event organisations.
The event featured a keynote presentation on sustainability in international touring and a marketplace of exhibitions.
Sustainable development in touring
In the keynote, Fabienne Voisin, Chief Executive of the Île-de-France National Orchestra, presented the inspiring journey undertaken by the orchestra’s team to develop a production tour primarily founded on sustainable development prerequisites. The production tour is currently being designed so as to minimise its carbon footprint, with a venues search conditioned by a path and means of transportation specifically selected to minimise distances and impact.
Loïc Fel, Founder of the agency influence for good, explored the importance of sustainable development principles as a condition for the future of international touring exhibitions. Loïc highlighted how travelling exhibitions can intrinsically contribute to sustainable development in culture, stressing the importance of the environmental, social and diplomatic roles that can be played by touring exhibitions internationally.
The essential keys to success highlighted in the presentation were:
- the support of an expert team;
- the implication of the whole team in the development process;
- the integration of industry-wide networks for sharing best practices;
- the importance of lateral thinking with references from across a variety of creative industries.
International touring exhibitions
A large variety of art, design, history, science, natural history, and popular culture productions were presented in the marketplace, which gathered 24 producers, with new experiences blending immersion, interactivity and original collections.
The replay of the event is now available and all the speakers can be contacted directly from the Teo Live page.
