Stregherie – Witchcraft, Iconography, Rituals and Symbols of Heretical Knowledge is an immersive exhibition exploring the figure of the witch as a powerful cultural, historical and symbolic archetype. Through artworks, historical documents, ritual objects and contemporary interpretations, the exhibition traces how the image of the witch has evolved over the centuries — from sacred female knowledge and folk healing traditions to persecution, demonisation and modern reappropriation as a symbol of resistance and empowerment.
Structured as a symbolic initiation journey, visitors move through thematic sections that investigate magic, the female body, lost knowledge, inquisitorial repression and the witch’s rebirth in contemporary art and society. Blending art, anthropology and spirituality, the exhibition invites audiences to look beyond stereotypes and discover the witch not as a monster, but as a mirror reflecting power, identity and cultural memory.
