As Project Manager on the Northern Initiatives team, you will be responsible for the implementation of the tours of  two brand-new Science North travelling exhibitions and for managing the science delivery team travelling with the exhibitions. Working with the overall project management team, you will learn (through direct experience and mentorship) to develop and nurture partnerships and stakeholder relationships across Canada. You will use your supervisory and leadership skills to motivate and guide the science delivery team travelling with exhibits. Your keen eye for detail and logistics will see you develop, plan, execute, monitor, and close-out projects. In this role you will also support the project management of other Northern Initiative priorities involving key science experiences, partnerships and stakeholders. This role will provide an ideal environment to improve your knowledge and understanding of project scope, including, scheduling, budgeting, quality, resources, risk, communications, and stakeholder management.

Job description

As the successful candidate you will have some experience in project delivery a strong interest in further

developing your project management skills and a demonstrated aptitude for relationship-building. You will bring with you team leadership skills, past experience working with internal and external stakeholders, exceptional verbal and written communication skills (in-person and virtually) and ideally prior experience in exhibit touring (or logistics management). A commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility, especially as these relate to Indigenous engagement and reconciliation will also be important.

Position Highlights…..

  • Coordinate a multi-disciplinary, cross-functional project team that plans, develops and implements all aspects of an exhibit tour
  • Ensure product quality with respect to the visitor experience, science content, partnership development and relationship building with key stakeholders
  • Manage the schedules, shipping and all logistical requirements for exhibits to be hosted at various attractions across Northern Ontario and Canada
  • Guide staff to implement and support science experiences across Northern Ontario and Canada
  • Develop and monitor the project scope, budget and schedule
  • Contribute to strategy and decisions on resources, risk, procurement, communications, and stakeholder management
  • Integrate and utilize project management tools and systems to facilitate improved efficiency and accuracy in reporting to relevant funders
  • Support implementation of innovative strategies and actions to deliver the best quality within budget
