Description

NEW – Arctic Worlds, a Lived-in Land (In Production)

An immersive exploration of the Arctic, where scientific knowledge meets Inuit cultures

Arctic Worlds invites visitors to explore one of the most fascinating and rapidly changing regions on Earth. Bringing together scientific perspectives, cultural knowledge and traditional narratives, the exhibition reveals the richness and complexity of the Arctic as both a natural environment and a place shaped by human life.

From vast polar landscapes to encounters with the iconic polar bear, the exhibition explores the remarkable adaptations that enable life to thrive in extreme conditions. Through a series of thematic sections, visitors discover Arctic ecosystems alongside the knowledge, traditions and ways of life of Inuit peoples, offering a nuanced perspective on a land that is both inhabited and alive.

An Inuit traditional story and an exploration of Arctic constellations extend the journey beyond the natural world, offering insights into the worldviews, beliefs and cosmologies of the Far North.

The exhibition also addresses the future of the Arctic. Drawing on climate data, personal testimonies and contemporary issues, it examines the rapid transformations affecting the region and invites visitors to reflect on the environmental, social and cultural challenges that lie ahead.

Throughout the exhibition, visitors encounter Nanuk, a life-size polar bear cub sculpture, explore casts of polar bear and grizzly bear skulls, and discover footage captured by camera collars fitted to wild bears. Interactive exhibits, tactile encounters with Arctic rocks, a biodiversity discovery game and Inuit cultural objects enrich the visitor experience.

Produced with the support of INUKSUK, an association dedicated to promoting Inuit culture in France.
