In the midst of a 19th century shaped by the Industrial Revolution and still dominated by belief and creationism, Charles Darwin leaves his native England aboard the Beagle for a journey around the world that will change the course of science. Travelling through Brazil, Patagonia, the Galápagos and Cocos Island, the young naturalist observes extraordinary landscapes, plants and animals, gathering the evidence that will lead to the formulation of the theory of evolution.
Through immersive and interactive technologies, Charles Darwin’s Fabulous Voyage retraces this remarkable expedition, to experience the origins of one of the greatest scientific discoveries and to rediscover humanity’s place within the living world.
The Fabulous Journey of Charles Darwin brings together the expertise of Lucid Realities, a leading French production company specializing in immersive experiences and educational entertainment (edutainment), and Guillaume Lecointre, Professor at the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle in Paris and a renowned specialist in evolutionary biology. Combining scientific expertise with innovative immersive storytelling, this collaboration offers an engaging and accessible exploration of Darwin’s voyage and the foundations of evolutionary theory.
The Fabulous Journey of Charles Darwin is a free-roaming VR experience designed for flexible deployment across a wide range of venues. Each 60 sqm play area (6 × 10 m) accommodates a group of 6 participants. The installation can scale from a single 60 sqm zone to larger configurations of 180 sqm (3 zones, 18 participants) or 540 sqm (9 zones, 54 participants).
The experience lasts approximately 36 minutes and is structured into three consecutive 12-minute sequences. Larger configurations allow for simultaneous or staggered group starts every 12 minutes, optimising visitor flow and operational capacity.
The installation layout and operational setup can be adapted to the venue, with technical deployment support provided by Unframed Collection.
