Plancton Odyssée is a large-scale immersive and interactive exhibition that plunges visitors into the fascinating microscopic world of plankton — the invisible ecosystem at the foundation of all marine life and one of Earth’s greatest climate regulators.
Designed for collective participation, visitors interact together using luminous handheld devices that influence a living digital ocean projected across walls and floors. Through movement, collaboration, and play, audiences discover the fragile balance of marine ecosystems and the essential role plankton plays in sustaining life on Earth.
Combining scientific accuracy, immersive storytelling, digital art, and game design, the experience creates a powerful emotional connection between visitors and the ocean’s invisible biodiversity.
The exhibition was created through a multidisciplinary collaboration between immersive creators, scientists, filmmakers, game designers, and environmental specialists.
Originally developed for the Musée du Fjord (Québec, Canada), Plancton Odyssée was specifically conceived to support touring and adaptation to multiple venues through a modular and scalable scenographic system.
Produced by CREO in collaboration with the Musée du Fjord.
Scientific and visual content developed with contributions from marine researchers, filmmakers, and environmental organizations, including materials inspired by the Plankton Chronicles initiative by Christian Sardet and the Macronauts.
The project brings together expertise in immersive storytelling, interactive systems, environmental education, audiovisual production, and real-time digital environments.
The exhibition uses immersive projection, interactive tracking systems, synchronized audio environments, and modular scenic structures.
Designed specifically for touring, the exhibition includes:
modular self-supporting walls
scalable projection configurations
adaptable audience capacity
rapid installation workflows
robust interactive devices designed for intensive public use
The experience can be adapted to different room geometries and technical infrastructures.
World premiere at the Musée du Fjord (Québec, Canada)
Collective immersive interaction with virtually no learning curve
Strong audience engagement across generations
Scientifically grounded environmental storytelling
Modular touring design optimized for adaptability
Fusion of cinema, game design, immersive art, and science communication
Emotional engagement with climate and biodiversity issues through participation rather than didactic approaches
Plancton Odyssée explores a critical contemporary challenge: how to reconnect audiences emotionally with ecosystems that are essential yet invisible.
Rather than relying on passive observation, the exhibition transforms visitors into active participants inside a living marine system, encouraging collective awareness, curiosity, and wonder.
