The Art of the Brick is the first major contemporary art exhibition to use LEGO bricks as the sole art medium. Much of the work you’ll see in the Art of the Brick is about transformation. Changing from one state or emotion or form to another. Taking the broken down parts of something and turning them into something else. As kids, we intuitively see the transformative qualities of LEGO. And that’s why Nathan Sawaya, creator of the Art of the Brick, has chosen LEGO as his medium.
Whether real or fictional, the characters and objects created by Sawaya are amazing and leave visitors completely speechless.
Some of the art that visitors have the opportunity to get up-close and personal with include iconic, Yellow, a life-size sculpture of a man ripping his chest open with thousands of sunshine yellow LEGO bricks cascading from the cavity, a 20-foot-long T-Rex dinosaur skeleton and they will come face to face with a giant LEGO skull.
